CHANDIGARH, May 25: To burn hospital waste, two incinerators with a 200-kg/hour capacity each were installed at the PGI here today.
The unique feature of the incinerator is that heat produced by it is not allowed to go waste and is used for heating water. Waste matter, including human anatomical waste, blood, body fluids, animal waste, microbiological waste, will be now incinerated in the hospital itself.
Earlier, only one incinerator of 75 kg capacity was functional and the rest was disposed of by the MC.
