16 Hindus injured in Doda grenade attack

Sixteen Hindu village defence committee (VDC) members were today injured, three of them seriously, when unidentified persons hurled a grenade at a camp in Doda district, where they had come to collect weapons, official sources here said.

Over 35 members of the newly-set up VDCs from Bagwa, Tawara and Udhyanpur villages were staying at the Ramleela Ground in Doda town, where a BJP dharna is continuing for the 16th day, the sources said.

The injured have been admitted to hospital, sources said. This is the fourth grenade attack in Doda in the past three weeks. Security forces have launched a search operation to track down the persons responsible for the attack, they said.
