The Maharashtra government has suspended 15 Nashik Central Jail officials, including Superintendent Hiralal Jadhav, who were caught on-camera, accepting bribes for granting favours to prisoners.
Over the weekend, offices and residences of Jadhav and 18 of his colleagues were raided and investigated by Deputy Inspector General Nagpur, Dr B.K. Upadhyay.
Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil today said that of the 18 people shown accepting bribes on a news channel, 15 have been identified, against whom action had been taken. “A committee has been appointed to conduct an inquiry. The Anti-Corruption Bureau has started investigations. Homes of some of the officials involved have been searched,” he said.
