15 ministers to be inducted with Mayawati this Friday

Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati will be sworn in as Chief Minister at 3 pm on Friday. Along with her, a small ministry is likely to be administered the oath of office. Others may be accommodated in the third week of this month.

According to sources, about 15 ministers, six each from the BJP and the BSP and three from the allies, are likely to take be inducted on Friday. This is being done under to prevent dissension, specially in the BJP, before the crucial confidence vote.

While inviting Mayawati to form the government in UP, Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri had asked her to prove majority within three months of the swearing-in. Lalji Tandon, Harishchandra Shrivastava, Om Prakash Singh, Hukum Singh, Ram Prakash Tripathi and one more likely from among Dalits may take oath from the BJP side. From the BSP side, the names of Swami Prasad Maurya, Inderjit Singh Saroj, Ranveer Upadhya, Naseemuddin Siddiqi, Lalji Verma and Sukhdeo Rajbhar are doing the rounds.

From RLD Kokab Hamid, from Lok Janshakti Party Rajaram Pandey and one from Janata Dal-U may be administered oath of office in first phase.

Asked to select members for ministerial berths, senior leaders of the state BJP have virtually failed to do so.

With mounting pressures from different sections to accommodate favourites, they have now reached Delhi to seek the Central leaders’ intervention. Before leaving for Delhi, the BJP leaders called on senior RSS leaders. The RSS leaders had reportedly advised them not to accommodate corrupt members.
