SHIMLA, SEPT 6: At least 13 persons were killed and 36 others injured, ten of them seriously, when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus plunged into 250 ft deep gorge at Gallu on Hindustan-Tibet national highway, 18-km from here today, police said.

Some bodies were still feared trapped under the wreckage of the bus, which was carrying about 50 passengers from Shimla to Dhamwari in Rohroo area of the same district. Ten persons died on the spot, two succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital while one breathed his last in the hospital, police said.

The injured have been admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical college here.

The accident occurred when the bus collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction and fell into a gorge, eye-witnesses said.

Most of the deceased and the injured were from Rohroo, Jubbal and Kotkhai areas.

The driver and conductor of the ill-fated bus were among the injured.
