Former Union minister Yashwant Sinha, arrested yesterday in Hazaribagh on charge of violating prohibitory orders, was sent to 12-day judicial custody by the local Chief Judicial Magistrate.

Sinha and over 150 BJP locked up Central government offices during working hours under Hazaribagh Samman Bachao Andolan. They were demanding the reopening of two Finance Ministry-run training centres of Income Tax and Central Excise and Customs departments.

“The UPA Government is deliberately ignoring my home town,” said Sinha.
