Eleven people, including two children, were killed and at least six others injured when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into a security check-post in the Swat valley on Sunday, a day after the army claimed it had flushed out militants from the restive areas in northwestern Pakistan.
The attack occurred at about noon in Ningolai village near Matta, a former stronghold of armed militants led by pro-Taliban cleric Maulana Fazlullah.
Police officials in Swat said three policemen and seven civilians died in the blast. The injured were taken to a hospital in a nearby town. No group claimed responsibility for the bombing.
