FAIZABAD(UP) AUG 15: At least ten people were killed and 36 others injured when a bomb ripped through a compartment of the Sabarmati Express in Roza village, 50 km from here, on Monday night.

The blast which occured at around 9.45 pm in the last compartment of the Sabarmati Express on its way from Muzzafarpur to Ahmedabad, was a powerful one that left limbs and debris scattered all over the site.

Senior officials along with the divisional railway manager(Lucknow) rushed to the spot. The rest of the train moved to Lucknow at 1.40 am after the affected compartment was disengaged.

The involvement of the ISI in the train blasts and two blasts in Kanpur on August 14 and in Lucknow on Tuesday morning is suspected but there has been no confirmation. While the blasts in Kanpur and Lucknow were minor in nature and none sustained injury, the one in Sabarmati express has dealt a lot of damage.

"This certainly is the handiwork of mischief-mongers. It is not knownwho the persons behind the train blast were but their intentions certainly were malefide," Digvijay Singh, Minister of State for Railways pointed out after visiting the site of the train blast at Rauzagaon,around 30 kms from here.

A relief train has also been rushed to the accident site.

The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Lucknow and Faizabad where 14 of them were stated to be in a serious condition.

Railway Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee while expressing deep shock at the tragic incident has ordered high officials to immediately rush to the site of the accident. She described the incident as an `act of cowardice’

Conveying her sincere condolences to the families of the dead she wished the injured a speedy recovery.
