BJP may hate the Thackerays in public, but positions aren’t permanent in politics and differ according to region. In Navi Mumbai, where Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is on a spree to induct Thackeray’s workers into Shiv Sena, BJP minister, Shinde’s arch rival and local heavyweight Ganesh Naik openly said that he has no ills about Thackerays and even Thackerays have no sour feelings about him. As the local BJP unit cannot afford to let Shinde become too powerful and Thackerays are desperately searching for a support, is a hidden tie-up on the cards? Will it be repeated elsewhere? Let’s wait for local body polls.
New Appointments
With the appointment of Mumbai Police Commissioner, the city is likely to see new joint commissioners as well soon. Hectic lobbying has begun for the much sought after posts that are likely to be announced in the coming week. While some officers are hoping for extensions or to be accommodated in the city itself, those on the sidelines are hoping for their turn in the sun. The CM has, however, kept the cards close to his chest that has led to only informed guesses by those in the reckoning.
Largest Cinema Screen
An announcement at the Waves 2025 Summit came as a pleasant surprise — the plan by renowned film producers Abhishek Aggarwal and Vikram Reddy to build the world’s largest cinema screen in Nagpur. The second capital of Maharashtra was chosen as it is strategically located at the heart of India. It also happens to be the home town of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who himself is a movie buff and has admitted that he catches up on movies on his “small screen (iPhone)” while travelling.
