Telugu superstar Jr NTR is making his much-anticipated return to the big screen with Devara: Part 1, which was released on Thursday. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the action drama, not only for his double role but also for his fresh pairing with Janhvi Kapoor.
In a recent interview with Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt, the actor revealed details about his first day of shooting with Janhvi Kapoor, sharing that she looks just like her mother Sridevi, adding that she’s worked hard for the movie.
Johar who had launched Janhvi in Dhadak said, “I can tell you one thing about Janhvi, having known her for many years. This is what she’s been dying to do from day 1. She’s been dying to do that tadakta-bhadakta gaana (a film with action and drama and full songs).”
Taraka, as Jr NTR is known among his friends, agreed, adding, “I could see that when she came to the location, sir. She was hungry…and I think she still is. She was hungry to give her best. There was so much nervousness, there was a lot of unpredictability in her. She didn’t understand.. there was this fear of dancing, there was this fear of acting, the fear of adjusting, the fear of lines. There was so much happening within that girl and.. and the first shot, she came and she gave. She just killed it. I mean, with so much pressure it was a delight seeing her open up on camera. The lines were so seamless. I mean, she said her dialogues in Telugu, though she didn’t dub for the movie in Telugu.”
During a scene in Devara, director Koratala Siva was hesitant to approve Janhvi’s performance, he said, but NTR was so impressed that he insisted on moving forward. “There is this side of her, which, I think has not been captured. With this platform, people will see a very different Jahanvi. And yes, have to agree, she definitely looks like her mother from many angles,” he said.

Working with senior colleagues can be challenging and intimidating, as displayed by Janhvi, but Arouba Kabir, Emotional & Mental Health professional, Founder Enso wellness, says the onus to smooth out the environment must lie on the senior colleagues, much like Jr NTR did.
“Senior colleagues have gone through the struggles and navigated them to reach a more stable position, often lacking guidance during their journey. By embracing compassion and understanding, they can create an open communication channel that acknowledges the insecurities young team members may face,” she explained.
This supportive environment allows younger minds to showcase their talents. Mentorship, both giving and receiving, has proven beneficial, as has participating in relevant skill development training, Kabir said. Establishing a culture of constructive feedback fosters growth, while younger members should remain receptive to feedback. Keeping a journal of daily experiences—tracking successes and challenges—can help them reflect on their journey and identify areas for learning and teaching others.
