When Seema Sajdeh opens the door to her home, she greets us with her trademark warmth and self-deprecating wit. Her space is both stylish, and sentimental. One of the first things she points out is a striking piece of art: “Quite a statement, isn’t it lovely? It’s a mama goat," she tells Brut India. That mama goat, she shares, was her first-ever art purchase. Her passion for art is clear, but also grounded: “They show me these paintings and this one's a really famous artist… but that looks a bit scary. It has to appeal to me.” The home is alive with pieces from friends and family. “This art is by my dearest friend Gauri Khan… she finally gifted me these,” she shares, pointing to a 3D multimedia piece that’s not even hung yet, just leaning casually in a corner. “She’s been my friend for over 25 years and she’s super talented.” Her outdoor bar, which she proudly calls her “pride and joy,” is where everyone congregates. “In Bombay, to have an outdoor and then all of this. this is where the alcohol is, so everyone comes here.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDVO9yWqRwE&t=4s Seema’s love for her sons is evident in every corner. “You’ll always find chocolate and candy in my house… especially sour ones—I’m obsessed and so is my son.” On a wall of family photos, she lovingly points out pictures of her parents, her sons—one of whom is now studying in LA—and her own memories. The former bedroom of her elder son, Nirvan, has now become a personal sanctuary. “I hope Nirvan never sees the show; he’d be very upset with me,” she laughs. It’s where she works out (“five or six days a week!”), makes phone calls, and listens to 80s music and Drake. “It’s my space, and I spend a lot of time at home. I’m actually a bit of a home cat and a bit of a loner.” Her mother makes a surprise cameo when the cameras sneak into her bedroom. “That’s my mother… she refused to leave today… she just tails me for a day to see what I’m doing!” Seema laughs. From personalised art and sour candy stashes to fashion-forward corners and nostalgic photos, her world is an honest mix of comfort and charisma. “My idea of fashion today,” she adds, “is all about mindset… it’s unisex, it’s edgy. There’s beauty in the darkness.” As she walks us out of the door, Seema quips, “I’m known to be a good host,” flashing a smile.
