Sanjay Rajoura, stand-up comic, New Delhi/Mumbai happily poses for us! At leisure I love travelling because I am interested in different cultures and foods. I grew up vegetarian but when I began travelling, I realised that to fully understand a culture and its people, you have to enter their kitchens. Travelling takes me away from the usual, every day life. New people, new weather, new food, new people — it’s rejuvenating. I get to see historical sites and towns I have grown up reading about. For instance, this photo was taken late last year in Xian, China, and you can see the Teracotta Warriors in the background. At work I took this photo in a green room, minutes before I was to perform at the Beacon House conference in Karachi, Pakistan last month. I spoke about Indo-Pak relations and how both the countries have messed up; about intolerance, Karachi elections, and the politics and politicians in both countries. After the stand-up act, I interacted with the audience, and it was a very engaging discussion, as they could relate to my observations.
