It is important to check under our car before we turn it on and accelerate to avoid injuries to stray animals taking shelter. They can be seriously injured, handicapped and even killed if we are unaware of their presence under our vehicles," read the caption to the post on Tata's Instagram which is managed by his team. "It would be heartwarming if we could all offer them temporary shelter when it is pouring this season," the post further mentioned. Admitting that community pets are critically exposed to pests and vulnerable to infections that can have severe consequences, Dr Shashank Sinha, chief executive officer, Drools & Veterinarian said that a simple act of kindness can significantly improve the life of a stray animal, especially during this season when they require extra care. "During the monsoon season, it becomes crucial to deworm all pets, including strays. Society can seek veterinary care or reach out to local animal welfare organisations that can provide medical assistance. Additionally, it would be humane if individuals living nearby can provide temporary shelter, dry bed them with old blankets, and offer food and deworming support to these stray animals," Dr Sinha told indianexpress.com. By taking these measures we not only promote compassion and empathy but can also make a positive impact on their lives, safety, and well-being, mentioned Dr Sinha. "India’s stray dog population is around 35 million, which is exponentially higher compared to the number of animal welfare groups around us.
