Eid al-Adha 2023 Date in India: India, a diverse land where various cultures and religions coexist harmoniously, is gearing up to celebrate Bakri Eid, also known as Eid al-Adha. It is a sacred festival celebrated among Muslim community around the world. The festival is also known as “ Festival of sacrifice”, which marks Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to obey Allah’s command by being ready to sacrifice his son for the sake of God’s command. His gesture was loved by the almighty and he replaced his son Ismail with a goat. Bakri Eid is celebrated with great excitement and enthusiasm.

Although the date on the Gregorian calendar varies every year. Eid al- Adha is celebrated according to the lunar calendar and falls in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. In India, Eid al-Adha 2023 is anticipated to start on evening of June 28.

India traditionally celebrates Bakri Eid one day after Saudi Arabia. However, this year, Saudi Arabia is said to celebrate June 28 as Bakri Eid, which means that India will most probably be celebrating it on June 29. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will also be joining Saudi Arabia in commemorating the festival on June 28.

Pakistan, like India, follows a similar pattern and has finalized June 28 as their date to celebrate Bakri Eid.

On June 27, several countries including China, Russia, and the United States, will begin their celebrations of Eid al-Adha. However, countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and the United Kingdom have chosen June 28 as the date to commemorate the festival.

Eid al-Adha is celebrated by Muslims worldwide on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah. On this day, devotees gather at the mosque to offer their prayers, known as the Eid al-Adha namaaz. The prayer can be performed anytime after sunrise until just before midday prayer time. Following the prayer, the Imam delivers a sermon or khutbah.

To promote awareness and understanding of Islam and Muslim culture, many Muslims take the opportunity during Eid celebrations to invite their friends, neighbors, coworkers, and students to participate in the festivities.
