Akshaya Tritiya 2023 Date: The auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya is widely celebrated by members of the Hindu and Jain communities across the country. Also known as Akha Teej, it is regarded as the most fortunate day and, as such, all spiritual and material acts are carried out on this day. It is celebrated during the Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Vaishakha, as per Hindu Panchang. This year Akshaya Tritiya will be observed on April 22.
For Hindus, the Sanskrit meaning of Akshaya Tritiya, holds a lot of importance. “Akshaya” means “never diminishing” and the term “Tritiya” signifies the third day of the illuminated half of Vaishakha month. On this day. while Hindus worship Lord Vishnu, Jain devotees pray to Lord Rishabhdev, the first Tirthankara, who is believed to have finished his one-year austerity by drinking sugarcane juice poured into his cupped hands on this day. As such, people who practise Varshi-tap, a year-long alternative day of fasting, end their tapasya by sipping sugarcane juice on this day.

According to Drik Panchang, Tritiya Tithi will begin at 7:49 am on April 22 and will end at 7:47 am on April 23.
Importance
Going by mythology, it is believed that a number of events took place on Akshaya Tritiya, making it an auspicious day. As per one legend, on Akshaya Tritiya, Treta Yuga, the second of the four yugas, started and the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Parshuram, was born.
Also, it is considered that Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the author of Mahabharata, started narrating the epic to Lord Ganesh on this day.
It was on this occasion that Lord Krishna met his childhood friend Sudama. As per another notion, the river Ganga descended on Earth from heaven on Akshaya Tritiya.
Significance
People celebrate Akshaya Tritiya to bring good luck to their lives. As per common belief, buying gold and properties on this day brings prosperity and wealth in the future.
