‘Sustaining growth of pharma industry in long term a challenge’

Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI),today said that sustaining the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in the long-term is a challenge due to uncertainties prevailing in the country.

Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI),today said that sustaining the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in the long-term is a challenge due to uncertainties prevailing in the country.

“Sustaining the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in the long term is a challenge due to various uncertainties prevailing in the country. Further,absence of an ecosystem that fosters innovation will be to the long term detriment of the patient if not addressed speedily,” OPPI president and Novartis India Vice-Chairman and Managing Director,Ranjit Shahani said while addressing the 46th anual general meeting of the pharma body here today.

OPPI Director General Tapan Ray said,”OPPI will uphold high standards of governance in areas concerning health,including issues like access to medicines,investments in the pharmaceutical sector,clinical trials,regulatory compliances and ethical promotion of medicines.

OPPI annual report released today expressed concerns of the industry as well as those of member companies by analysing implications of various issues.
