Indian doctor gets recognition from Guinness

An Indian urologist Dr Rajendra Punjabi's extraordinary work of removing the largest 650 grams prostate gland from a human body has been recognised by the Guinness World Records.

An Indian urologist Dr Rajendra Punjabi’s extraordinary work of removing the largest 650 grams prostate gland from a human body has been recognised by the Guinness World Records.

“The largest prostate gland weighing 650 grams was removed from a human body by Urologist Dr Rajendra Punjabi,India,at Roberts Nursing Home,Indore” the Guinness World Records recognising the achievement stated.

Usman Gani (55),a resident of Ujjain district was unable to urinate following the prostate gland,Dr Punjabi told reporters.

He was operated upon and the gland weighing 650 grams was removed from his body at Roberts Nursing Home,Indore on March 15 last year,by a team led by Dr Punjabi.

The urologist said that the operation lasted for three hours adding that usually the prostate gland weighs 15 to 20 grams.

Dr Punjabi said that the gland weight goes upto to 250 gram but does not swell to 650 gram.

“It was an unique case in the medical history,” Dr Punjabi said.
