Usage: You can consume it as a powder, with green tea, mixed with milk at bedtime, said Gandhi.

Dosage: 5 g for adults
2 to 3 g for children

According to Gandhi, almonds — rich in vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids — can improve vision. “Fennel seeds and white pepper have properties which are beneficial for eye health and can improve vision. Saffron contains antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties, which may help improve eye health and slow the progression of macular degeneration,” said Gandhi.

Dr Digvijay Singh, senior consultant and head of ophthalmology, Narayana Hospital, Gurugram affirmed that many traditional remedies suggest that a mixture of almonds, white pepper, fennel seeds, and saffron can support eye health.

“Almonds are rich in vitamin E, which is known for its antioxidant properties that protect the eyes from oxidative damage. White pepper is believed to improve blood circulation, potentially benefiting eye function. Fennel seeds contain nutrients like vitamin A and antioxidants that promote good vision. Saffron has been linked to improved retinal health and may help in maintaining sharp eyesight,” shared Dr Singh.

While these ingredients may contribute to overall eye health, Dr Singh noted that it’s essential to understand that they are not a cure for refractive errors like myopia or hyperopia.

“Incorporating them into your diet can support healthy vision, but they should complement, not replace, professional eye care. Always consult with an eye specialist before relying on such remedies for vision correction,” said Dr Singh.
