It is widely believed that how you start your year does foretell how your year will be. Well, you may not agree but actor Ashmit Patel firmly believes in that. Recounting his terrible experience of ‘food poisoning on the 1st of January 2023, Patel shared that he has geared up for a 13-day fitness challenge #AshFit13 to get fitter and stronger in 2024. “FOOD POISONING! Yes, that’s the way I started 2023. 2024 is different though. Starting the year with the determination and the challenge to get fitter and stronger (physically and mentally) than I ever was,” expressed Patel in a video on Instagram. He then challenged his followers to partake in the #AshFit13 challenge.
Are you guys up for the challenge too? “Just 10 minutes a day of some sort of exercise for 13 days. Let’s make those resolutions stick this time. Let’s go make this a happy healthy new year,” said Patel.
Taking a cue, here’s a ready reckoner from Saurabh Bothra, CEO, Habuild on how to do it the right way.
Wake up early
A good steadfast morning routine can help you find time for activities like meditation, exercise, Surya Namaskar, or journal writing. This helps have a positive mindset throughout the day.
Breathwork
Practice slow and deep breathing which will help reduce stress and contribute to a more calmer you.
Mindful eating
Savour each bite, make better food choices and listen to your body. This helps develop a good relationship with food. This also helps avoid overeating.
Move every hour
Do micro-movements like walking, and stretching every 30 minutes. This helps with blood circulation and boosts energy too. “The benefits of exercising regularly go beyond physical fitness. Whether it’s dancing, hiking, yoga, or playing a sport – physical movement boosts mental clarity,” said Bothra in an earlier interaction.
Drink more water
Good hydration regulates body temperature and aids in digestion.
Sleep
Just like a wake-up routine, have a strategically planned sleep routine. “Keep your devices away, engage in relaxing activities like meditation, reading, taking warm baths, or simply sitting in a dark and clean room,” shared Bothra.
Learn to be flexible and incorporate these concepts based on your lifestyle/schedule, and most importantly – be consistent!
“It’s not about hitting a certain number – it’s about making healthy living a habit that comes to you naturally. That’s when you take a step closer to a healthier and happier version of yourself,” shared Bothra.
This rule could be your guide, but it’s not mandatory. Be patient and consistent – that’s the key!
