The 95th Annual Academy Awards on Monday witnessed renowned celebrities making heads turn with their elegant and extravagant fashion picks. And, why not! Oscars are, after all, touted as fashion's biggest night of the year. Taking this several notches higher was a Nigerian musician and producer Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, who was nominated this year in the best original song category. Tems made sure that every eye was on her as she wore a voluminous gown from the LA-based label Lever Couture. The stunning one-shoulder dress featured a fitted bodice with a billowing bottom cascading into a long train. However, what literally caught everyone's attention was the structured headgear of the dress which blew up social media because of its size and shape. "Imagine waiting your whole life to be at the Oscars and you end up sitting behind a stratus cloud," a user wrote. Tems is my star girl and all that. Tems blocking people’s views with her dress was inconsiderate. People pointing that out is not racism as long as they aren’t using derogatory language. Humans need to be more honest." what people sitting behind tems are seeing 😭 #Oscars #Oscars2023 pic.twitter.com/yBgi9ZQQxA — lasulja (@lasulja) March 13, 2023 "This is so disrespectful to the people sitting behind her," a user wrote on the microblogging site. However, not everybody was critical of Tems' outfit and several fans came out in support of the singer on social media. "Sit behind Rihanna / lady Gaga dressed liked this let’s hear what you’ll say then," a user wrote.
