Queen Camilla is a vision in blue at Versailles state dinner with King Charles
Her Majesty Queen Camilla opted for a French brand for the occasion as is customary for state visits

Last night, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended a formal state banquet at the Palace of Versailles as guests of French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron.
Queen Camilla opted for a French brand for the occasion as is customary for state visits, sporting a sophisticated Dior haute couture gown, custom designed for her by the fashion house’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, and made by hand at the Dior atelier. The midnight-blue silk crepe gown had a billowing floor-length cape with a braided fringe, which must have been particularly beneficial as they reached the castle on a windy evening.
She accessorised her gown with Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond and sapphire necklace, known as the George VI Sapphires, and matching earrings and bracelets. She also carried a midnight blue satin purse.
The necklace was given to Queen Elizabeth II by her father (thus the name) at her wedding to Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark in 1947, and it was part of a suite that was considered to have been fashioned nearly 100 years before. According to Tatler magazine, it was one of the late monarch’s most prized possessions, and she wore it innumerable times around the world until her death. The jewel was inherited by Queen Camilla, who first donned it at a South African state banquet at Buckingham Palace in November of last year.

Brigitte Macron chose the same colour scheme, wearing a navy blue column gown with an embroidered collar and cuffs.
At the state banquet in the Hall of Mirrors at the majestic castle, the leaders and their significant others were joined by 160 additional guests, including celebrities and foreign leaders. Rock legend Mick Jagger, actors Hugh Grant and Emma Mackey, and French-British actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg were among those in attendance.
This is King Charles and Queen Camilla’s first official state visit since the former ascended the throne. Fashion will play a significant role in the three-day excursion, which takes place just before Paris Fashion Week. They are scheduled to meet with LVMH managing director Bernard Arnault and Chanel’s Bruno Pavlovsky.
