PV Sindhu, Venkata Datta Sai channel ‘vibrant haldi vibes’ in white mirrorwork ensembles; ditch traditional yellow for festivities

Badminton champion PV Sindhu and her partner Venkata Datta Sai tied the knot in a traditional and intimate wedding ceremony in Udaipur on December 22, 2024. While the athlete stuck to traditional roots for the main wedding events, she embraced her modern sensibilities by opting for a contemporary white ensemble for the haldi ritual.

Instead of donning the traditional yellow (or green) shades associated with the pre-wedding ceremony, Sindhu looked ethereal in a custom ASAL by Abu Sandeep white lehenga set paired with a sleeveless mirror work jacket. For jewels, the Olympic medallist wore ornate seashell earrings, maang tika, and haath phools. Her husband complemented her look in a sequinned white kurta set. Sharing the pictures, in which the couples can be seen drenched in colours, the shuttler wrote: “Vibrant haldi vibes 🌈.”

Celebrity stylist Bornali Caldeiraa shared detailed glimpses of the ensemble, complemented by subtle makeup, a tiny bindi, and pulled-back hair with wisps framing Sindhu’s face.

For her wedding, the badminton player switched the regular lehenga for an ivory tissue sari by Manish Malhotra, styled with a multi-tiered heirloom necklace crafted in 18k gold and featuring Zambian emeralds and uncut diamonds. A bold red lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, paired with a full-sleeved blouse embellished with golden embroidery, was her choice for the varmala ceremony.

Sindhu and Datta dazzled in green and blue for their sangeet night, with the former opting for a halter neck floor-length gown, high ponytail, and diamonds to accessorize. Sultry smokey eyes and lots of green shimmer on her eyelids added glam to the look.

Taking to social media, AMARIS Jewels shared that Sindhu is “unafraid to rewrite the rules and redefine tradition” and chose jewels that “echo her individuality”. Her partner looked dapper in a custom Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla co-ord set paired with a jacket embellished with mirror-work.
