However, in 2023, they’ve become a staple for celebrities on and off the red carpet, not only as beaded necklaces, but entire outfits encrusted or embroidered out of these precious stones. The pearl core trend has now taken centre stage with the biggest names from the film and fashion industry globally making a statement in these designs.

The list would be incomplete without mentioning the iconic pearly Schiaparelli ensemble worn by Kim Kardashian for Met Gala 2023. The outfit designed by the fashion house’s creative director Daniel Roseberry featured 50,000 pearls–adorned in strings–covering her bust and legs–embellished over a nude-toned bodysuit. She teamed the look with a dramatic cape jacket with a long train and exaggerated sleeves. Styling her hair in a top bun with loose strands, the SKIMS founder opted for nude makeup to seal the look.
