It signifies the victory of good over evil, as, according to the mythological legend, it celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over the demon Ravana and the triumph of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura.

This year, Dussehra will be celebrated on Thursday, October 2, 2025, with Vijay Muhurta from 02:05 PM to 02:53 PM, whereas Bengal Vijayadashami timings are from 01:17 PM to 03:41 PM, according to drikpanchang.com.

On Vijayadashami, several traditional rituals are observed. Shami Puja, Aparajita Puja, and Seema Avalanghan (or Seemollanghan) are performed to celebrate victory, invoke blessings, and symbolically overcome obstacles.
