Mira Kapoor escapes the summer heat with a weekend getaway to Landour; here are some scenic hill stations you can visit

The ongoing summer sun has been scorching us this season with the heat wave going on in full swing. A lot of us have been daydreaming about a vacation in the cool, snowy hills, sipping a hot cup of chai and enjoying some Maggi. Unfortunately, we’re stuck in the heat while Mira Kapoor found her way to the hills this weekend, stylishly dressed in blue denim jeans and a cable-knit sweater, seeking refuge from the sweltering heat in the rest of the country

Giving a glimpse into her vacation, Mira posted pictures of her family and friends from Landour, Mussoorie. “Hello from the hills,” she captioned the post.

Even if you may not have the luxury of going on a full-fledged vacation this summer, here are four hill station spots around Delhi where you can head for a workation.

Kasar Devi, Uttarakhand

If you decide to travel to Kasar Devi, you’ll be sharing space with a list of former visitors that includes world-class musicians like Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and novelist DH Lawrence. Embodying a hippie vibe, Kasar Devi is nestled deep amongst the snow-capped peaks and pine forests.

You can take a bus straight to Kasar Devi or take a train to Kathgodam from Delhi, from where you can make the scenic drive to Kasar Devi. This is the place to go if solitude is what you’re in search of. You can even make the trip to Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary nearby.

Landour, Uttarakhand

Famous for being the home of writer Ruskin Bond, this quaint town is located near Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. If you’re a food aficionado, don’t miss the chocolate and peanut butter crepes at Landour Bakehouse. You can either reach Landour directly via bus from Delhi or take a train to Dehradun from where you can go to this small hill station.

Bir Billing, Himachal Pradesh

Known as the paragliding capital of the country, Bir Billing may be an adventure junkie’s dream spot but its serene sunsets and mountain-side homestays — famous for serving local cuisine — can be perfect for your workation. Don’t miss this scenic location if floating in the clouds and enjoying a coffee with a view are some of the experiences that you are looking for. Many direct buses from Delhi to Bir Billing are operational.

Barot Valley, Himachal Pradesh

Known as a “trekker’s paradise”, Barot valley is situated near Mandi town of Himachal Pradesh. Located on the banks of the river Uhl, you can both camp and fish on its banks. You can also take the British-built cable car to Jogindernath. It is easily reachable via a direct bus from Delhi.
