Walking into the Roshan family home, you’re immediately struck by how personal and comforting the space feels. It’s elegant, yes—with its chandeliers, jewel-toned sofas and thoughtfully chosen interiors—but there’s also a softness, a lived-in warmth that tells you this house isn’t just about style. It’s about family. In a recent video tour, Sunaina Roshan, sister of actor Hrithik Roshan, offered a rare glimpse into their Mumbai home and spoke from the heart about what the house means to her. “For me, home means family. And for me, family means togetherness, love—unconditional love and support. That is what family means to me.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05iaOvDh7yE&t=126s The house has been theirs since the early 2000s, a step up from the modest home they once lived in just across the street. “We moved into this house around 2001 or 2002—it’s been about 24 or 25 years now. Before this, we lived in a small house right across the street. That was the first house dad bought after renting for so long, so it had a lot of emotional value. It was small and cozy, and the rooms were so close that we always interacted—it was a real joint family home.” When it came to their current home’s interiors, everyone had a part to play. “I planned my own bedroom. But it was mom, dad and Suzanne who did most of the house. We’re simple people and wanted to keep it minimal, not flashy. I really believe your house reflects who you are.” The dining table—always a focal point in Indian homes—holds years of memories. Sunaina shares how food has been a big part of their lives. “I used to be a foodie—let me put it that way. Dad still is, and so is my nephew. My mom always jokes that if my brother wasn’t an actor, he’d be in the Guinness Book of Records as the fattest man—he loves food that much!” From quiet dinners to lively parties, the home has seen it all. Especially their father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who is deeply proud of the space. “He’s very house-proud. He’ll always say, ‘There should be a picture here, and another one there.’ He entertains his friends near the bar—that’s his zone.” The house even includes a dedicated card room, a favourite hangout for Mr Roshan and his long-time friends. “He’s been playing with the same group of friends for over 40–45 years now. It’s more about bonding than cards.” As for Sunaina, she loves interiors—but prefers small updates. “I love playing with colours, changing my upholstery every five or six years. I don’t have the patience to paint walls or break stuff anymore!”
