From The Buckingham Murders to Talash, Kareena Kapoor Khan has starred in her share of murder mystery films. However, did you know that the Bollywood actor is a huge fan of the thriller genre and not particularly fond of self-help? In a recent chat with The Nod Mag, Kareena opened up about her current read.
“I enjoy more crazy crime thrillers. I’m reading Jessica Bull’s latest crime thriller. It’s called A Fortune Most Fatal. It’s a really cool period crime drama with a World War II kind of setting, and you know, it’s got brothers and sisters and their fortune, and who inherits what. It’s taking up all my time now,” the Jab We Met star shared with the publication.
Kareena also mentioned that when it comes to transformative books, she’s not a fan. “I don’t read those kinds of books,” she added.
Here’s a quick excerpt of A Fortune Most Fatal, according to Goodreads:
Intrepid amateur sleuth Jane Austen returns in this new novel from the author of Miss Austen Investigates (Jessica Bull).
When Jane Austen arrives at Rowling House to visit her wealthy brother, Neddy, she hopes that some time away will distract her from her broken heart and the dashing Tom Lefroy’s lacklustre proposal. Little does she know that her sister-in-law, Elizabeth, has other plans to help Jane come out to society and find a respectable husband of good status and wealth.
Meanwhile, when a mysterious foreign princess is taken in by Mrs. Knight, Neddy’s adoptive mother, Jane and her family fear that Neddy’s inheritance could be at risk, jeopardizing them all. Jane is determined to unmask the beleaguered princess as a con artist and reveal her true identity. But when Jane’s sleuthing leads her to believe that Neddy is involved in an unspeakable crime, she must try to save a traumatized young woman. And she must do it without destroying her wealthy brother, whom all the Austens rely on.
