The Supreme Court Collegium Thursday recommended new Chief Justices for the High Courts of Patna, Meghalaya, and Manipur. For the Patna High Court, the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India B R Gavai, proposed that Justice P B Bajanthri, who is currently the Acting Chief Justice there, be appointed as Chief Justice. The Collegium also recommended that Justice Soumen Sen of the Calcutta High Court be appointed as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, and that Justice M Sundar, the senior-most judge of the Madras High Court, be appointed as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. Justice Bajanthri was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on January 2, 2015. He was subsequently transferred as Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and back to the Karnataka High Court. He took charge as a judge of the Patna High Court on October 20, 2021. Justice Sundar was sworn in as a permanent judge of the Madras High Court on October 5, 2016. Justice Sen was elevated as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on April 13, 2011.
