Former cricketer Yusuf Pathan (TMC) defeated INC's Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who had been representing the constituency since 1999, by 85,022 votes. TMC's Shatrughan Sinha won in West Bengal's Asansol constituency by 59,564 votes. After her victory, Mamata Banerjee held a press conference at Kalighat, and demanded PM Modi's resignation: "These results have shown that Modi has lost all credibility and he should immediately resign," she said.
