Prime Minister Narendra Modi Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s new Infinity Campus via video conferencing. During the event, he also unveiled Vikram-I, the company’s first orbital launch vehicle capable of placing satellites into orbit.
At the inauguration, PM Modi lauded the country’s growing space sector, highlighting the private sector’s significant role in India’s space ecosystem.
“Today, the country is witnessing an unprecedented opportunity in the space sector. Today, the private sector is taking a major leap in India’s space ecosystem. Skyroot’s Infinity Campus is a reflection of India’s new thinking, innovation, and most importantly, youth power. The innovation, risk-taking ability, and entrepreneurship of our youth are reaching new heights today,” he said.

The prime minister further said that more than 300 space startups were providing new hope to India’s space future.
“Today, over 300 space startups are providing new hope to India’s space future. Most of the space startups started with a small team. I have had the opportunity of meeting people involved in these startups… small teams, limited resources, but they have the resolve to tough new heights,” PM Modi said.
He emphasised the country’s growing capabilities in the space sector, highlighting the country’s young engineers, designers, coders, and scientists who are driving innovation in areas that were unimaginable just a few years ago.
“Today, Gen-Z engineers, designers, coders, and scientists are creating new technologies… The youth of India is working in areas that were unimaginable just a few years ago,” PM Modi said.
The newly built state-of-the-art facility spans nearly 200,000 square feet and will have workspace for designing, developing, integrating and testing multiple launch vehicles, with a capacity to build one orbital rocket every month.
Skyroot, founded by Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka, both alumni of Indian Institutes of Technology and former scientists of ISRO, turned entrepreneurs, has emerged as India’s leading private space organisation.
The company created history in November 2022 as it launched Vikram-S, India’s first sub-orbital rocket developed by a private firm.
