A day after police booked veteran filmmaker Ranjith on charges of sexual misconduct, two more women professionals on Tuesday moved similar complaints against multiple actors, including CPI(M) MLA Mukesh.
On Monday, Kerala police had registered a non-bailable case against director Ranjith based on the complaint by a woman actor accusing him of sexual misconduct. This was the first criminal case registered against a film professional based on the revelations that came up in the aftermath of the Hema Committee report.
On Tuesday, an actor moved a complaint against Mukesh, a two-time CPI(M) legislator in the Kerala Assembly; Edavela Babu, a prominent leader of the AMMA; and actors Maniyanpilla Raju and Jayasurya on charges of misconduct during different film projects.
Moreover, another woman actor who had quit the industry, also moved a complaint against actor-producer Baburaj, who is a joint general secretary of AMMA, and another director, Sreekumar Menon.
Meanwhile, the seven-member special investigation team of IPS officers, formed to probe the revelations in the wake of the Hema Committee report, met on Tuesday to chart out its future course of action.
An official communication said all the complaints being registered with local police will be handed over to the special team. All cases will be probed by women officials.
