Jayalalithaa passes away: Top BJP leaders pay tributes to Amma

Top BJP leaders on Tuesday paid rich tributes to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, hailing her for her poor-poor politics and describing her one of the most iconic Indian politicians. “Saddened by the demise of Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa ji. I extend my deepest condolences to her party and followers in this hour of grief,” BJP President Amit Shah said.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said she created Brand Amma, a different kind of pro-poor politics. “Jayalalithaa was very popular leader, able administrator. Her connect with people was enormous and unique She created “Brand Amma”, a different kind of pro poor politics. My heartfelt condolences,” he said on twitter.

Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said he felt as if he had lost her sister and expressed his admiration for her courage, conviction, dynamism, wisdom and bold administration. “I express my grief and deep sorrow on the demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa,” Union Minister and former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh said Jayalalithaa was a powerful voice for the weaker sections of the society.

“She always worked for the benefit of the poor and needy. She has left an indelible mark in Tamil Nadu politics with her enduring legacy. Selvi Jayalalithaa was one of the most iconic political figures of India who had an enormous impact on the people of Tamil Nadu,” he tweeted.

Jayalalithaa, hospitalised since September 22, suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday and passed away late last night.
