Telangana Rains: Washed away railway tracks after heavy rains, in Mahbubabad district. (PTI photo)Telangana weather, IMD weather forecast: Schools and colleges shut tomorrow, train services affected, flooding in various districts — heavy rain has continued to batter Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, causing widespread disruption across both states.
The Telangana government has also ordered the closure of all schools and colleges across the state tomorrow in view of the situation. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has directed the district Collectors to take precautions to avoid any loss of life and property as the Meteorological department warned of heavy rains for two days across the state.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed all officials in government departments to remain vigilant to prevent any potential incidents. He also advised relocating residents from low-lying areas to relief camps.
A railway track between Kesamudram and Mahabubabad was inundated owing to continuous heavy rainfall. As such, all trains from Vijayawada to Warangal, Warangal to Vijayawada, and Delhi to Vijayawada were put on hold.

The chief secretary also said that an advance plan for evacuating people from flood-affected areas and setting up relief camps should be prepared. Besides taking appropriate measures to prevent contamination of tanks, chlorination should be taken up to prevent the spread of diseases.
In its weather advisory, the Met Centre in Hyderabad indicated that isolated places in districts such as Adilabad, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, and others could experience very heavy to extremely heavy rain on Sunday. A red warning has been issued for this forecast.
Additionally, the Met Centre stated that a few locations in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Jagital, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal, and other districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain on Sunday.
In Andhra Pradesh, eight people lost their lives in incidents related to the heavy rains on Saturday, with five of these fatalities occurring in Vijayawada due to landslides, according to officials.
The Municipal Commissioner reported that landslides occurred at a single location in Mogalrajapuram, where large boulders crashed down on two houses as a result of the heavy rainfall.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the landslide victims, according to an official statement.
Several areas in Andhra Pradesh, including Vijayawada, experienced continuous rainfall over the last 24 hours, officials said. In the 24 hours leading up to 8:30 am on Saturday, Vijayawada city recorded 18 cm of rainfall. The city continued to receive more rain on Saturday.
Apart from Vijayawada, Machilipatnam also recorded 18 cm of rainfall, followed by Gudivada with 17 cm, Kaikaluru with 15 cm, Narasapuram with 14 cm, Amaravati with 13 cm, and Mangalagiri with 11 cm. Both Nandigama and Bhimavaram registered 11 cm of rainfall each.
Several other locations across the state recorded rainfall between 1 cm and 9 cm, according to data from the Meteorological Department.
As increased water flows are expected into several projects such as Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam, Thottapalli, Madduvalasa, Sriram Sagar and others, the CWC called for water discharge as per standard operating procedures after informing people in the downstream areas.
