A 38-year-old man, out on parole while serving a life sentence for raping a minor, was arrested again after he allegedly raped his 11-year-old daughter and 12-year-old niece in Chhattisgarh’s Korea district.
The accused was first arrested along with his father in 2020 for the rape of a 16-year-old relative. In 2022, they were convicted and given life imprisonment.
Following the initial arrest, the now 38-year-old’s wife had left their home with their youngest son. Their other children — two minor daughters and a minor son — were being looked after by the man’s family. Earlier this month, the man and his father came out on parole for the first time, reaching their home on the night of October 19. According to police, on that night itself, the 38-year-old allegedly raped his daughter. Two days later, he allegedly took her to a forested area and raped her again, after which she managed to run away.
Fearing that she may reveal the alleged assault to someone, the man then fled to his brother’s home. There, he found two of his brother’s minor daughters alone, and allegedly took one of them, a 12-year-old, to another wooded area, tied her up with rope, and raped her, police said.
“He then fell into a ditch, which gave the minor time to untie the knots herself using her teeth. She ran back home and alerted her parents,” a police officer said.
On October 22, an FIR was registered, but the accused could not be found. On October 24, police were able to determine that he had fled to Baneya village in Korba district. Police then rushed a team to the area, and found out that he had climbed up Bagpatera hill. For two days and nights, police camped on the three exit points of and nabbed him on October 26.
