After the hearing, the accused went towards the water cooler outside courtroom number 12 on the sixth floor of the building. Officials said that without warning, he pushed away the police constable who was holding his arm and jumped down the corridor.
According to police sources, a dispute had emerged on April 20 between the complainant’s father and some local BJP supporters over comments ostensibly made online by his minor daughter on triple talaq.
The police in the chargesheet submitted in the court has made 28 witnesses, including the victim and her father. The trial of the case is scheduled to commence from the next date, April 19, when the victim will record her statement in the court.
Inspector Karnail Singh, SHO Doraha police station, said that an FIR under the sections 302, 363 and 376-A of IPC and sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act has been registered and accused are yet to be arrested.
Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha, appearing for Dr. Ashwini Kumar, said in the petition before the POCSO court that CBI, who had taken Dr Kumar’s statement, did not present it before the court and the chargesheet was filed without incorporating the statement.
According to the statement, he had lured a 15-year-old girl to an isolated forest area in Vithura and allegedly sexually assaulted her last week. The incident came to light after a group of local women confronted the cleric after seeing him with the school-going girl in the forest.
