INDIA bloc’s seat-sharing deal has been finalised in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha polls, with the Congress set to contest on 17 seats. The remaining 63 seats will be contested by the Samajwadi Party and other parties willing to be part of the INDIA alliance.
On the 63 seats, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav will decide its candidates.
The Congress is contesting from Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kanpur Shahar, Fatehpur Sikri, Bansgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Mahahrajganj, Varanasi, Amroha, Jhansi, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki and Deoria.
Earlier on Wednesday, while asserting that “all is well that ends well,” Akhilesh Yadav had said that an alliance with the Congress will happen in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters, Akhilesh said, “All is well that ends well… Yes, there will be an alliance. There is no conflict. Everything will be out and clear soon… All is well that ends well…”

The development comes days after his party said he would join Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra only if its seat-sharing proposal for the Lok Sabha polls is accepted. Akhilesh Yadav did not join Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amethi on Monday.
The SP and the Congress are partners in the INDIA bloc, formed by opposition parties to take on the BJP in the upcoming general elections.
