With Opposition MPs keeping up their call for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into allegations against the Adani Group, and BJP members demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the UK, Rajya Sabha barely functioned on Wednesday. In the morning session, the House was adjourned within 12 minutes.

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar said he had received 11 notices in seven categories under Rule 267, which relates to suspension of day’s business to discuss urgent matters of national import, when he was interrupted by sloganeering by Opposition MPs. Dhankar adjourned the House until 2 pm.

At 2 pm, when the House reconvened, it was adjourned for the day within three minutes. As Dhankhar gave the floor to Kharge to speak, and the latter began speaking about the Opposition’s letter to the ED director, members of Treasury benches began shouting the slogan “Rahul Gandhi maafi maango”.
