UP for district-level committees to help accident victims

With a view to provide timely help to accident victims on Uttar Pradesh’s highways,the state government has directed the transport department to set up state and district-level committees for the purpose.

As per directions issued by Chief Secretary Javed Usmani at a meeting on Thursday,the district-level committees should comprise the concerned District Magistrate Chief Medical Officer and transport officers as members.

A control room with toll free numbers should also be under operation to ensure that people in such situations can call for help.

Usmani also asked to deploy round-the-clock ambulances,to be maintained by the Health department,at key points on the highways and arrangement of cranes to clear the route in case of an accident.
