Police crack militant module,SPO among 5 arrested

A former Army man has also been picked up for questioning in this regard.

Police has busted a militant module and arrested five of its members,including a Special Police Officer (SPO) in connection with the recovery of IED on Friday,while the hunt to arrest dismissed SPO is still on,police said on Monday.

“A total of five members of militant module were arrested so far as module was cracked and hunt to arrest a dismissed SPO is on in connection with recovered on apple boxes fitted IED in Jammu”,police said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP),Jammu Range Ashok Gupta said that investigation is going on and a security agency’s role is also coming under scanner.

While two of them,including main accused-Muneer Ahmed Malik alias Munna and Munib Ahmed were arrested from Jammu and Udhampur districts,three more,including SPO were arrested from Doda.

“Police has arrested an SPO working with Gandoh Police Station Mohammad Rafi alias Pinka,Mohmmad Ashraf,Nizam-ud-Din alias Nazakat were arrested yesterday”,Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG),Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range,Muneesh Sinha said.

Hunt to arrest dismissed SPO Mehboob Dar is on,he said,adding,the arrested SPO Rafi has also been dismissed from services on Monday.

Hizbul militant Munna was arrested soon after he dropped explosive laden apple boxes near high security MLA hostel area in the city on Friday and his associated Munib was arrested while returning back in Tata Sumo at Chenani of Jammu-Srinagar highway,they said.

During investigation,SPO Rafi was found to be involved in fabricating IED along with dismissed SPO Dar.

Asharaf,a carpenter was involved in making apple boxes and concealing Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in it and Nizam-udi-Din had arranged at Tata Sumo vehicle for carrying explosive laden IED to Jammu.

Besides them,a former Army man has also been picked up for questioning in this regard,they said,adding,most of them have been sent to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) by the police.
