PIPFPD appeals for resumption of Indo-Pak peace process

“It is noteworthy that prior to attacks on Mumbai,we had four rounds of composite dialogue and the fifth was on,” it said,adding,both the governments need to “immediately resume full peace process”.

The forum appealed both the nations to revive India-Pakistan Judicial Committee on Prisoners,set up by the Foreign Ministries,and demanded that the unanimous recommendations of the judicial committee be “implemented”.

It also wanted release of fishermen and civilians from India and Pakistan,who are lodged in various prisons of both the nations for several years. PIPFPD said there is an Indian locked in Pakistan’s Central Jail at Mianwali for 24 years.

PIPFPD demanded easing of visa norms to facilitate people to people interaction.

On solving Kashmir dispute the forum said “A peaceful and democratic initiative to resolve the Kashmir dispute is urgent need of the day and we further urge the government of India to resume dialogue with all sections of Kashmiri society without pre-conditions.”

The forum reiterated its position on Jammu and Kashmir that “it is not a mere territorial dispute between India and Pakistan but the people of J&K should be involved on both the sides of the LoC in any dialogue process.”
