Permission was not denied for Rahul programme: UP Govt

UP Government said permission was not denied to organise a programme to be attended by Rahul Gandhi on Ambedkar's birth anniversary.

Accusing the Congress of indulging in a “misinformation campaign” against the ruling BSP,the Uttar Pradesh Government today said permission was not denied to organise a programme to be attended by Rahul Gandhi on Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.

“Contrary to the mis-information campaign launched by the Congress, the district magistrate has given permission to the party to organise its programme at the same site, where it requested in its application,” PWD Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui today said and distributed copies of the DM’s order.

The AICC general secretary is proposed to flag off Congress’ Sandesh Yatra from Ambedkar Nagar on April 14,when he would also address a public meeting.

The minister alleged that opposition parties became wary after they came to know that the BSP would be organizing programme at all district headquarters to celebrate Ambedkar jayanti and to expose shortcomings in the Women Reservation Bill.

“The Congress was aware of the fact that its programme would become a flop show as the BSP is also organising an event on the same day,” he alleged.

“Therefore,in a bid to create dispute and to defame the BSP and the state government,Congress has alleged that hindrance were being created in giving permission for its programme in Ambedkar Nagar.

Though Congress officially had not raised such an allegation, they were apprehensions among people in that line.
