The three factions of Naga insurgent group NSCN have resolved to stop issuing statements against one another in order to not hamper the Naga peace and reconciliation process.

The decision, taken yesterday by the Joint Working Group of the NSCN(I-M),NSCN(K) and NNC/FGN at a meeting at Dimapur, will cover both print and visual media, the JWG said in a release issued today, underscoring the importance of respecting the spirit of the reconciliation process.

The JWG also expressed urgency to hold a reconciliation meet at the highest level among the signatories of the ‘Covenant of Naga Re-conciliation’ at the earliest,it said.

The Covenant was signed last year by the top leaders of the three groups at the initiative of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) at Chinang Mai,Thailand.

Ever since the initiative was taken by the FNR for peace and reconciliation among the warring groups,Nagaland has hardly witnessed factional killings in the past two years.
