Nitish dividing dalit community : Paswan

LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan on Thursday charged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with deliberately trying to divide dalit community for their votes and threatened to launch a state-wide agitation if the state government continued to ”discriminate” against the community.

Referring to the state government’s bid to keep Ravidas (chamaras) and Paswan (dusadhs) out of the mahadalit category,Paswan,whose dalit sena spearheaded by his former MP brother Ramchandra Paswan,organised a dharna at r-block roundabout here,said “it reflects a dirty politics aimed at dividing the dalits to rule the state,a step LJP will not tolerate.”

Speaking to reporters at the venue of dharna,the LJD boss said his party had geared up to push the state’s NDA overnment towards a showdown to stop any move to discriminate against the interests of dalits. He demanded that the Nitish Kumar government should make public the recommendations of mahadalit commission headed by Vishwanath Rishi and extremely backward commission report of Udaykant Choudhry.

Paswan announced that his party would launch a series of agitation against the state government for its alleged failure on all fronts,particularly on the issues relating to steps to be taken for the uplift of dalits and law and order problem. Paswan wondered as to why the government was not implmenting the bandhopadhya committee report on land reforms and asked for the presentation of the committee’s recommendations in the state assembly. He further alleged that the state government had not done anything for the uplift of minorities. Paswan announced that a 3-day day national camp of the LJP commencing from August 12 at Bodh Gaya would draw up the poltical agenda of the party for the next two years as also the agitational programme against the Nitish Kumar government.

Paswan said division of secular votes and over confidence contributed a lot to the electoral reverses the LJP and RJD alliance tasted in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Paswan alleed that the state government had indulged in electoral malpractices with the help of BDOs,SHOs and district magistrates,using faulty evms,slowing down the process of voting in the areas where the LJP-RJD candidates were on strong footing and booking party workers in false cases before the polling. Paswan said LJP would prepare its agenda for strengthened the party within 100 days.

Besides,the party activists would launch a ‘jail bharo’ campaign across the state on the issue of mahadalits and extremely backward castes on July 27 and July 28.
