Mumbai near-miss: AI rubbishes talk on suspending two pilots

The Air India set to rest speculation that it has suspended two pilots for near-collision incident at the Mumbai Airport on Sunday.

“It is absolutely wrong that Air India has suspended pilots,” the Air India spokesperson said.

“The inquiry is still in progress,” he said,adding,”Pilots remain de-rostered so that they are available for the inquiry.”

As many as 220 passengers had a narrow escape when Shanghai-bound Air India flight and Kolkata-bound Jet Airways flight hurtled towards each other on the intersecting runways at Mumbai airport before aborting the take-off.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) which in its preliminary report had cleared the Jet Airways pilots,is also probing the incident.
