Seeking to make transparent government functioning,Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today launched e-tendering web portal for Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme in the state.

E-tendering and similar other methods to bring about transparency to restrict the chances of corruption are path- breaking in making transparency rule the roost in government functioning,Omar said while addressing top bureaucrats and engineers after launching a 24×7 e-tendering web portal for PMGSY scheme in the state.

The departments of Roads and Buildings and Power Development Depaprtment would be brought under e-tendering and e-governance as a vangaurd measure,he said.

Let this year be dedicated to lower the rank of Jammu and Kashmir in the list of most corrupt states,he said.

He emphasized his resolve to bring down the graph of corruption in public service delivery and said I would ask my colleagues in the council of ministers to take necessary initiative of e-tendering,e-precurrment and e-governance in the departments under their charge.

National Informatic Centre (NIC) will be asked to make presentation in this regard to the cabinet to explain the efficacy and efficiency of e-tendering in bringing about transparency in the functioning of various departments.
