Devotees throng temples on Mahashivratri

Devotees observed fast and thronged temples in the city to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

Devotees today observed fast and thronged temples in the city to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

Long queues of pilgrims were seen outside Shiva temples,including Ranbeshwar temple,Peer Kho,Har-ki-Pouri and Shiv Parvati Mandir in Jammu city and the cave shrine of Shiv Khori in Reasi district.

“Devotees in large numbers are thronging the temples to offer bael patri (wood apple leaves),milk,curd,Ghee and honey,” said a priest.

“On this day,even if a devotee offers a glass of water on the Shivlingam,Lord Shiva fulfills all his wishes,” the priest said.
