Counselling of youths to desist them from stone pelting: J-K DIG

A programme for counselling of stone pelters by a team of police officers will be taken up.

To dissuade young boys from indulging in stone pelting,Jammu and Kashmir police will soon start counselling of the youth involved in the act and submit its finding to the government for consideration.

“A programme for counselling of stone pelters by a team of police officers will be taken up and the recommendations therein shall be forwarded to senior officers and state government for consideration,” Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG),South Kashmir,S A Watali said a function here on Wednesday.

Watali was interacting with 400 released youth of Anantnag district,who were arrested on the charges of stone pelting.

He urged the boys not to fall in the filthy politics of the anti-social and anti-national elements.

“You should contribute your bit in the maintenance of law and order and development of the district,” the officer told the boys,who were accompanied by their parents and guardians,on Wednesday.

Watali said the stone pelters should engage themselves with education,business,sports and other welfare activities,for their bright future.

The guardians were asked to keep watch on the activities of their wards and provide them better education,a police spokesman said.

They were assured that the police will provide all possible help in this regard,he said.
