Kargil was the coldest place in Kashmir division recording a minimum of minus 15 degrees Celsius as compared to yesterday’s minus 18 degrees Celsius,a MeT department official said.

He said the minimum temperature in nearby Leh town increased by 8.1 notches to settle at minus 8.9 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Srinagar city,the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir,was recorded at minus 4.4 degrees Celsius,0.4 notches more than yesterday.

The skiing resort of Gulmarg was the coldest place in the Valley recording a minimum of minus 10.3 degrees Celsius.

Pahalgam,Qazigund,Kokernag and Kupwara towns were all freezing at minus six degrees Celsius.
