State Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to order a judicial probe into the mysterious disappearance of two minor girls in Gulabgarh area of Kishtwar district. Holding the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Gulabgarh Police Station and his police team responsible for it,the party president Shamsher Singh Manhas said that they should be arrested immediately and a case for rape and murder registered against them as the local people belive that the girls were subjected to severe brutalities and later killed by the police. The girls - Sapna and Sunita, both residents of Atholi village, were arrested by police alongwith a boy Pardeep Kumar of the same area on July 12 on fabricated grounds,Manhas told media persons here. Pointing out that the SHO Farooq Ahmed Wani neither informed their parents nor took any respectable citizen of the village into confidence while handling the issue of those minor minor girls belonging to scheduled caste community,he said that the boy,who also happened to be from the same community, was released after four hours on the same day. However, the girls were kept in the lockup and their whereabouts are not known to any one till date,he added. He described the inquiry by a DySP into the matter an eye wash and said that BJP rejects it outrightly. He criticized the government for its callousness in the matter, saying that while Chief Minister personally ensured a CBI inquiry into a similar case in Shopian,it only suspended the SHO in the disappearance of two girls in Gulabgarh. Asserting that BJP will not leave any stone unturned in bringing the culprits to book,Manhas said that they will also approach organizations like Human Rights Commission,Women Commission and Scheduled Caste Commission in this matter. He also flayed the grant of Rs 75,000 as compensation to the families of the missing girls by the government, saying that it is not only an insult to the grieved families but also an admission by the government that the girls were killed in police custody. He demanded judicial probe and adequate compensation to the families, besides immediate withdrawal of false cases registered against the local people who have been raising voice against the police atrocities. The BJP Chief also criticized the champions of human rights for their criminal silence over the killings and appealed the Women Commission and the Scheduled Caste Commission to take cognizance in the matter.BJP demands judicial probe into disappearance of two girls ens Jammu State Bharatiya Janata Party o Thursday asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to order a judicial probe into the mysterious disappearance of two minor girls in Gulabgarh area of Kishtwar district.
