‘Unstoppable’: Rahul Gandhi’s bike ride through Ladakh on eve of father Rajiv’s birth anniversary
Former Prime Minsiter Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary is on August 20.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has been on a social outreach programme since the Bharat Jodo Yatra, was seen riding a bike through the picturesque landscapes of Ladakh to Pangong Lake on Saturday.
Gandhi is on a tour of the Union Territory, where he will be celebrating his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary on August 20. “On our way to Pangong Lake, which my father used to say, is one of the most beautiful places in the world,” Rahul Gandhi said sharing pictures from his bike ride on his Instagram handle.
In the pictures, Gandhi is riding a KTM 390 Adventure as other riders follow him. The Congress MP is seen in full biking gear including a helmet, gloves, riding boots, and a jacket. He is also expected to participate in the meeting of the 30-member Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil elections on August 25, according to news agency ANI.
Sharing more pictures, the Congress party wrote: “Upwards and onwards — Unstoppable!”
This is his first visit to Ladakh since Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories, Ladakh and J&K, following the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 (A) on August 5, 2019. In January, the Congress leader had visited Jammu and Srinagar during his Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Mocked by rivals, particularly the BJP, as a privileged dynast removed from the daily grind of most Indians, Rahul has tried several reinventions of his image over his political career. The restless, aggressive young man who tore into an ordinance passed by his own government is a thing of the past. This time the emphasis is on projecting Gandhi as an everyman – as much to put Opposition parties seeking a partnership with the Congress at ease, as to juxtapose him as a contrast to the larger-than-life Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
